I obsess over tables and lamps. A wee bit much. However, I do hope there’s never a cure for this! =) I am always adding new favorite pieces to my forever long LOVE list. And this round cocktail table from DwellStudio is the newest addition. The warm antique gold 18″ high base and cool 38″ diameter travertine top (or alternate grey shagreen and black iron base) would dress up any living space. It’s aboslutely gorgeous.

I forgot all about Bunny Williams line of home goods and remembered her jewel piece of a table – the Hourglass Table for Beeline Home. It ranks in one of my top ten everyday and everything tables. It’s perfect as a hall table, small dining table for two, or an end table near that deep charcoal velvet sofa. The octagonal pedestal base is made of hand applied reeded wood and can be finished in either an old gold or silver leaf patina. I’ll take either. The top is a honed fossil stone cut to mimc the shape of the base. Perfect proportions. Off to France and the Far East…
Silver and Gold… Table Behold.

It must be true that planning is underway in many many super organized households for Thanksgiving and Holiday dinner parties. It’s also high wedding season and surely those registries are busting with lists of gilded fine china. I’ve always been a believer in mixing metals, and while looking into accent plates to grace the table at my next dinner party (tbd), I collected a long list of modern, uptempo, and sophisticated finalists. As good as gold and as smashing as silver, these dinnerware beauties are a perfect companion year after year for a seasonal afternoon feast or a star-lit dinner for eight.

'Syracuse Taupe Dinnerware' by Mottahedeh is a modern and young take on circles - I love the mixed hue grays - can see this looking fantastic in my Ashley Gray dining room!

The Raynaud 'Attraction Gold & Platinum' design is a free design of alternating lines. Perfect backdrop for beautiful food and deep pink flowers.

Michael Wainright must have a following in his precious metal and porcelain design inspired by the Cape Cod dunes.

Haviland "Cible" is inspired by the Art Deco Movement with uneven lines and starburst patterns begging for white pasta.

The Aegean Platinum handmade dinnerware by l'Objet is more cool metal and ringed in one of my favorite pattern of scales.

I'm a huge fan of Kelly Wearstler and Love Love Love her Hillcrest dinnerware collection. The dinner plate print is delicate and is adorable.
As Good as Gold! Let the Rush Begin!

Metallic isa mainstay in fashion and home design. Every season, editors exclaim “Silver is Sweet this Spring!”… “Bronze is Back for Good”… “Deck the Halls with Silver Balls!”. I say stop the press and stick with metallic for good! We all need something shiny in our life, and the smooth luster of decorative metal makes my mouth water. I have to declare that I am leaning towards the warmth of gold for my own personal interiors. It looks fantastic year round – up against linens, wools, chocolate, fuchsias, and rich indigo. I’m not afraid of a little eclectic either. I have polished nickel reading lamps, brushed silver drawer pulls, antique gold wall mirrors, and a gilded bar cart. However, the autumnal season is upon us and surely, editors will be shouting “Gold is Hot this Fall. Again!”. So be it. And embrace it. Wear it, and turn it on.

I stumbled upon creative organic baker and show designer Sarah Magid a few years back when searching for accessories online. Sarah makes some of the most decadent cakes and sugary creations on this planet. The Brooklyn-based baker backs her product with the slogan, “Made with Love”. Well, I’ve been in love with this image of her Golden Twinkie Cakes. Damnnn cute!!
But tonight, I was cruisin’ around my massive library of digital bookmarks and found Sarah’s Blog. Here she posts instructions for making Cookie Paper Dolls!
Bookmark her site to get a taste of some pretty concoctions when you’re looking for that burst of energy during your next home project. That’s why interior design showrooms serve candies and coffee. Yuummm.
